Ispirato da uno dei personaggi, il sergente Multa, mi ha appena detto che vorrebbe mettere in prigione uno dei suoi omini dei lego. Perché, gli ho chiesto. "Ha parcheggiato male"
Wish we could exchange ideas with a minimum of hyperbollocks.
But we just love to be dogmatic
Other people are dogmatic. We stick to our principles.

Anyone got a recommendation for good, cheap #S3 object storage that isn’t frickin Digital Ocean?
Really wanna move. Mainly using it for PeerTube & gotosocial.
@meljoann I've got a few buckets on Cloudflare R2, and the free egress is the part I'd want for video. The catch is R2 has no ACLs, so you'd set PeerTube's upload_acl to null the way its docs show for Backblaze. Is it the egress bill or the per-GB price that's pushing you off Digital Ocean?

No, I do not do Ottober or Voretober or Inktober or even October.
I just do “Tober” in which I do nothing.
@ziphi nods sagely toby maguire
@david_chisnall @thirstybear So much to unpack...
Firstly some success stories from a couple of colleagues. They have found that LLM usage helps them save time in boilerplate. However some context: (1) They only write JS/TS with React.js including going from Figma to code. There is a huge body of knowledge out there for that space. (2) They took 6 months to set up the "skills" to get it to a level they like. (3) They treat the LLM as a junior programmer and review everything.
But...
(1/2)
The question that’s missing is: why is that boilerplate needed at all? Boilerplate is code smell. It is a sign of missing abstractions. JavaScript libraries are infamous for this because they’re not designed to minimise programmer work, even though JavaScript is a great language for building abstractions with easy reuse.
🇩🇪 Today we celebrate #GermanUnityDay – a victory over oppression & mass surveillance.
But history warns us: #ChatControl could bring surveillance back at a scale East Germany could only have dreamed of.
Let’s defend freedom & say NO to #ChatControl! ✊

@essjax from the perspective of a search engine specialist, AI descriptions usually look like junk to me even if they're technically very detailed.
It's more informative to talk about what the picture is communicating and what it means in context than to exhaustively list it's contents.
Compare:
A brightly lit photograph of a sandy beach. An adult Golden Retriever dog faces to the right. Residential buildings are visible to the left.
Playing fetch on the beach with Hector, the Best Boy last summer. The random pink tennis ball we found at the park is his favourite
@LyallMorrison @essjax very true, but you can put the first paragraph in the main toot, and the technical description in the alt text?
